My community spotlight series takes a look at some of the interesting businesses and establishments that give New Rochelle its unique character and about which many residents may be unaware.
One of the most successful pop artists in history, Charles Fazzino has a vibrant three-dimensional style that’s instantly recognizable — even if you don’t know his name, I guarantee that you have seen his work. Fazzino is often placed in the same category as iconic pop artists like Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Red Grooms, and Robert Rauschenberg. He is exhibited in more than twenty countries and 600 galleries, and he has also produced many commissioned pieces for festivals and events throughout the world. But you don’t have to travel far to view or order a Fazzino original, because his own gallery is located right here in New Rochelle at 32 Relyea Place, just north of Main Street. It’s a point of pride that many world-famous works of pop art are conceived and fabricated in our city.
